NEW RECLOOSE LP 'PERFECT TIMING' HAS LANDED (NEW ZEALAND)!

Kia Ora Crew! The wait is over, the new album hits stands in New Zealand Feb. 26 via Loop recordings (www.loop.co.nz). Featuring a stellar cast of familiar faces (Joe Dukie, Justin Chapman, Genevieve Marentette, Jonathan Crayford!) and some newer recruits that will blow you out the water (Tyna, Rachel Frasier!). Future meets the past in this funk and soul filled musical love affair... check the Myspace player for sneak peeks of the tunes (including a remix from Mark de Clive-Lowe hot off the presses!)---> www.myspace.com/mattchicoine.

Also be sure to check the 'Perfect Timing' release tour around Aotearoa in March/April. All the dates are now posted on Myspace, so mark the calendar and make sure you get your glutious down to revel in the electronic soulfunk bidness!

As for everybody NOT in New Zealand, fear not- we're poised for an international release by May of this year. Details are gushing in, but don't want to let the cat out of the bag just yet;). Tour to follow as well.. jeah...

Finally, for now all major news/dates/music will be posted on the Recloose myspace site- www.myspace.com/mattchicoine. We'll still be blogging here (with more frequency than in the past lol) but for all pertinent Recloose related info visit us on Myspace. And special thanks to Lisa and Jeff at Mukuna (www.mukuna.co.nz) for helping shammy the site here!

From Bondi With Love

What goes on? Have made a few minor updates to the site (thanks Maitland!). Contacts updated, etc. but the main thing is a new player on the Music + Downloads page (at the bottom). Has my last DJ mix concoction there- Are You Ready To Throw Down- available for stream or download. More mixes coming, keep checking...

In Australia at the moment, doing some gigs and generally trying to keep busy. Doing an edit of an Azymuth tune for my man Joe at Far Out Recordings. He's re-releasing edit versions of their first Eponymous LP from 1975, a very SOLID release and quite hard to find from what I'm told. Keep your eyes and ears open, should be worth scooping, Brazil fan or not. Speaking of edits finished some sneaky deaky's for a buddy, be on the lookout for some Chow Daddy business (nuff said).

Other than this I been going stir crazy in the studio like a mad scientist, driving myself and the family crazy but masterminding the next album. The stew is simmering! I'm not going to describe it, naw, just tell you its sounding real nice and also you'll soon be hip to some smoking new voices and sounds. Planning and music well underway, but I'll hold off on the details until its all in the can!

BTW, I will be leakin the sneak previews via myspace soon (www.myspace.com/mattchicoine)...

Also just completed my contribution to the recent OE: Brazil comp. coming via Loop Recorings in NZ. Features the Brazilian funk crew 'Funk Como la Gusta' and the velvet voice stylings of NZ's own musical monster Tyna 'aww what?!' Keelan. Getting clearance to put a little sample on the myspace site now... Brazilian Soul-funk ironica y'all!

And for those who wanna shake it shake it, have many an appearance going down in NZ over the next few months, including some Live Band appearances. Check myspace.com/mattchicoine for the latest listings.

Mo Soon!

May/June Recloose Updates

Back to business! Had a great live tour of Europe in February and March, wildly hectic but we had some fun and got to play to lots of new audiences. Our favorite gigs had to have been Brussels at Le Tavernier, Amsterdam at Paradiso, Brighton, Leeds, and Edinburgh (although the promoters, 'getintotrouble.com' didn't pay us after a great party! Watch out for these fools!). Many thanks to all those who came out, who took a chance on us, and especially everybody in the band (that DEFINATELY includes you Danny and Dave!!!). Also good to hook up with global crew and make new acquantances (Christiaan, Mad Mats, Oakie, and our new friends at the Cuba Bar in Reims, le Tavernier in Brussels, and on and on...). Also, be on the lookout for our new band page that will feature some clips of our live performances, photos and flyers from the tour, and bios of our band members.

On this topic, we're now compiling a CD that features some of our best performances from our recent live tour in Europe as well as some joints from a few New Zealand shows. It will also include some bonus studio tracks for those jonesing for some new flavors. Stay tuned here for release info!

Have just finished a promo DJ mix (the first proper mix I've done since Jigsaw Music from way back!). Will be making it available soon on the website so check it out. Its called 'Are You Ready to Throw Down?' and spans some of my favorite tunes new and especially old.

Also gearing up for a pending trip to Brazil facilitated by Loop Recordings in New Zealand. Details are still trickling in, but a crew of five musos (including kiwi powerhouses Maaka McGregor, Hollie Smith, Barnaby Weir, P-Diggs, and yours truly) and an army of paparazzi will be descending on Sao Paolo for 3 weeks of fusionary music making with the local scene. This should be interesting at the very least! Keep you ear to the ground here or at www.loop.co.nz for details over the coming months.

And of course still chugging in the studio. Its nitty gritty time as they say, no more distractions so I have got the pedal to the metal and am digging in on my next album. Four or five songs deep now, getting excited now at how its shaping up. A return to the roots in some respects but still keeping the aotearoa vibes at heart. Expect more musical wizardry from Riki Gooch, Mike Fabulous, Justin Chapman, Genevieve Marentette, and some new faces to hone the flavors....

Thats about all for now, be back in a minute!

In the meantime I'm back at it in the studio working on some new joints for the follow up LP. Have got my musician crew enlisted to spice it up, we're heading in new and funky weird directions! The results will first show up on an EP for Peacefrog in the earlier part of next year, again will keep you posted. In addition to which we are dropping another Dust remix 12" for all those who missed it the first time as well as a Landed 12" complete with an exclusive Recloose 'Hiatus' megamix. You'll have to buy it to see what I'm on about. Check here or www.peacefrog.com for more release info.
